Why Me?

May 23rd, 2019

It’s actually the title of a movie I worked on. My friends working on the movie didn’t believe me until one of them was at my house when he called… My own friends didn’t believe me, until one of them was over when he called – yes, you read that right, twice. It’s hard to believe a “sex symbol” married to a stunning actress, would be stupid enough to stalk me. He did, until I caught him on his hands and knees crawling around my front steps at 1am and called the police. I’d thought it was smoking hot 1988 computer skills that ‘enamored him’, but he was just another horny, sick fuck. Is there a pattern here?

One Free Phone Call – 1984

May 11th, 2019

Decades ago, living in Los Angeles, on my way to rehearsal of my first TV show, I ran into ‘Lloyd’ and his fiance Alice. I hadn’t seen them since college a few years before; we exchanged numbers. After the show aired I started getting obscene phone calls between midnight and 1AM. This went on for months. A trace was put on my phone after I filed a police report. The offending caller was arrested; the Police asked me if I knew Lloyd – the only Lloyd I knew was my old classmate. Lloyd then called me to tell me it wasn’t him – it was his ‘guest from Canada’ who had been my caller. I immediately recognized his voice as the man who tormented me for months. His trying to convince me it wasn’t him was witness tampering; a felony. Had my first full blown panic attack, ended up in emergency thinking I was having a stroke. He called me from the Valley – from area code 818 to 213; every time he called it showed up on his phone bill.

Never had to testify – he pleaded and got probation, public service, counseling. I got panic attacks and never worked in front of the camera again. Today I found him on Facebook, blocked him and wrote this post…
